TIPS FOR DEALING WITH SENSITIVE SKIN

13 March, 2018

Shaving is a nightmare for sensitive skin, but you don’t need to throw in the towel and chuck out the razor – sporting a lumberjack of a beard won’t necessarily mean an end to that constant itching or painful chin.

Sensitive skin is often the reaction to your lifestyle and the chemicals you put on your face. We aren’t here to tell you what to drink and eat, but we can advise on what to do with the outside of your body. Follow these tips for shaving and face the mirror with renewed confidence:

  • Use warm water, not hot
  • A dull razor won’t cut hair cleanly so keep it sharp
  • Try using a sensitive pre-shave cream to prep the area
  • Use a sensitive shave soap or gel, or if you can’t tolerate that, a fragrance-free shave oil
  • Press lightly with the grain, always
  • Pat dry with the towel rather than rub
  • Use a relieving after-shave balm to cool skin after shaving
  • Search out products marked ‘hypo-allergenic’, including body wash, shampoos and conditioners
  • Dry skin can exacerbate sensitivity, so moisturise daily with a fragrance-free cream
  • Treat yourself to a regular wet shave at any of our award-winning stores, and while you are in the chair quiz our well-trained barbers for more tips
